Terms and conditions
CHDICT is offered free of charge as a non-commercial service. Anyone can search the dictionary without registration: these terms and conditions apply to registered users. A registered account is needed to contribute to the dictionary.
All content published on this website is licensed under Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0. This applies, first and foremost, to the dictionary itself, which contains the current version of entries as well as their entire change history, and can be downloaded and redistributed as a standalone text file. The operator of CHDICT assumes no responsibility for the content created through the collaboration of users.
If as a registered user you flag, comment or edit entries, your contributions, identified by your user name, will become part of the dictionary file. By registering you consent to your contributions being automatically and irrevocably published under the Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0 license.
You acknowledge that as a consequence of this, user accounts cannot be completely deleted if contributions in the name of the user account have already been stored and published. Your user name, namely, becomes part of the dictionary file as an attribute of your changes or comments, and it might subsequently be retrieved in searches or statistics. However, if you delete your account, your email address will be permanently removed from the website's database.
By registering you agree to the following: you will treat other users with respect; you will not publish obscene, vulgar, racist or otherwise offensive content; you will not publish content that violates EU law or the laws of your jurisdiction; you will act in good faith to make sure your contributions are truthful and accurate; you will not abuse this platform for promotion or advertising; and you will not vandalize or damage existing content.
The website's operator will not interfere with users' judgement in matters of accuracy or objectivity, but they reserve the right to moderate, revert or delete contributions that violate the above guidelines, and/or to suspend user accounts in extreme cases.
This website stores no personally identifiable information about visitors, apart from the details that are necessary for creating and managing user accounts. In practice this means storing the email address of registered users. These addresses will never be shared with third parties or published in any form. The website's operator will take the utmost care in guarding these addresses; however, they cannot assume responsibility for damages resulting from digital attacks. In this respect, the operator welcomes indications of vulnerabilities and suggestions for improvement based on the website's source code as published on Github.
The website's operator reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions in the future. Should that be necessary, the website will notify users at the time of their next login.
